About Us

Argus is Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s Art and Literary Magazine. We are an all-inclusive organization that stands for the right of free speech paired with artistic expression. Every year, a new edition of the magazine is produced by the staff from the submissions of the students on campus. Each edition is available both in print and digitally and is created by a student-run editorial team under the guidance of a faculty advisor from the Department of English, Languages, and Cultural Studies.

Letter from the Editor-in-Chief

Welcome to the digital home of Argus!
For fifty years, Argus has served as a vessel for the vibrant, sometimes strange, and creative voices of our campus. This website is a living, breathing expansion of our publications. Here, we have the space to showcase student art and literature in real time,  keeping our community’s creative pulse visible to all.
A literary and art magazine is more than just a collection of pages; it is a collaborative record of a specific moment. Within the pages, you will find work that comforts, disrupts, and delights. Whether you are here to read a piece of poetry, lose yourself in a short story, or spend time with a beautiful visual piece, we hope you find something that resonates with you.
To our readers: thank you for stepping inside, staying a while, and keeping the conversation alive.
Explore, stay curious, and enjoy the work.

Warmly,
Rebecca Scott
